MOSTI Biotechnology Cluster.

In creating a conducive environment for the development of biotechnology in the country, MOSTI has introduced a cluster concept to implement the National Biotechnology Policy and initiative which is coordinated by the National Biotechnology Division (BIOTEK). Each cluster member provides services and facilities to support the programmes under the National Biotechnology Policy.

IPHARM is a multidisciplinary research institute that focuses its efforts on drug discovery and development. Through high impact R&D activities and strategic alliances with world-class research institutions, IPHARM aims to develop new pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals with commercialization potential. IPHARM endeavors to accomplish the following:

  • Identify niche areas in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical biotechnology by exploiting readily available natural resources in Malaysia.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical biotechnology R&D.
  • Sustain prioritized R&D activities and adapt to the latest technology in drug discovery and development research area

Agro-Biotechnology Institute Malaysia (ABI) is one of the three Biotechnology Institutes under Malaysia Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Founded on the 6th of June 2006, ABI is one of the initiatives born out of Malaysia National Biotechnology Policy.

ABI undertakes Research, Development and Commercialization projects related to agro-biotechnology in cooperation with various universities, research institutions and industry players.

BiotechCorp is an agency under the purview of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and is wholly-owned by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated. BiotechCorp is governed by the Biotechnology Implementation Council and advised by the Biotechnology International Advisory Panel, both chaired by the then honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Hj. Ahmad Badawi.

The objective of the establishment of BiotechCorp amongst others is to identify value propositions in both R&D and commerce and support these ventures via financial assistance and developmental services. BiotechCorp's key mandates are as follow:

  • Act as a one-stop-centre
  • Nurture and accelerate growth of Malaysian biotechnology companies
  • Create conducive environment for biotechnology
  • Actively promote foreign direct investments in biotechnology

Inno Biologics Sdn. Bhd. (InnoBio) a contract manufacturer, operates a cGMP manufacturing facility for the production of biopharmaceutical API. It is the flagship biotech company of Inno Bio Ventures Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian Ministry of Finance Incorporated Company with a close affiliation with Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia. InnoBio services cover all stages of the production of mammalian cell-based therapeutic proteins and monoclonal antibodies, from DNA recombination work and bioprocess development to cGMP manufacturing.
