Introduction

The S&T Core Division has the responsibility to coordinate the evaluation of project applications and also to monitor the projects that were approved under ScienceFund (SF) and Pre-Commercialisation Fund which consist of Community InnoFund (CIF) and TechnoFund (TF). The research areas under this cluster include mathematical and physical sciences, chemical sciences, agricultural sciences, social sciences and humanities.

The S&T Core Division has also been entrusted to monitor and coordinate programmes and activities under the Department of Chemistry Malaysia (KIMIA) and the National Science Centre (PSN).

The Department of Chemistry Malaysia is a dynamic world class organization which provide leadership for scientific solutions. Its missions include providing integrated and synergistics services to ensure the nation’s welfare, public safety and health and employs inovative science in strategic and emerging areas to enhance nation competitiveness. Its services are grouped into several divisions, namely Forensic, Environmental Health, Research and Quality, Industrial and Classification Trade Tariff, and Development and Information Technology.

Pusat Sains Negara (PSN) is an institution of informal learning with the mandate to increase awareness, appreciation and understanding of science and technology. PSN offers many types of fun science based programmes, activities and exhibitions with the aim to inculcate and spark creativity and innovation amongst the young generation. The themed exhibition galleries include Malaysia’s first overhead freshwater aquarium, Wonderspark, Pathways to Science, Eureka, Kidz World, Flight, Thinking Machines and Energy World. The overall concept of the centre is to enable visitors to learn, discover and explore the relationship between science, technology and everyday life.

In addition, PSN is equipped with a resource centre, three science laboratories, three fabrication workshops, two auditoriums, a multipurpose hall, a cafeteria and a souvenir shop. At the outdoor Science Wonderland, visitors can have the kinaesthetic experience with the giant outdoor exhibits, keep healthy while engaging with the exercise trails and discover nature in the Biodiversity area. The National Science Centre is definitely a wonderful choice for tourists and local visitors alike.
