Malaysia Cyber Security Awards 2014 Recognises Contribution of ICT Security Industry Players

IPOH, PERAK DARUL RIDZUAN (12 November 2014) – The Malaysia Cyber Security Awards 2014 saw seven categories conferred to the crème de la crème of the cyber security industry players in Malaysia as a recognition and appreciation of the industry’s contribution in terms of innovation, commitment and industry leadership, as well as contribution to the general public’s well being by providing education and awareness services in a not-for-profit manner.

The prestigious and highly sought after Malaysia Cyber Security Awards 2014 were presented by His Royal Highness The Sultan of Perak, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah at a reception and gala dinner in conjunction with the Cyber Security Malaysia – Awards, Conference and Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2014, currently ongoing until 15 November 2014 at the Casuarina@Meru, Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan.

According to YB Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), “Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) are critical for the development of the nation. Through the strong STI capacity development, Malaysia can become a successful high-income nation with sustainable development, inclusiveness and a scientifically advanced country in the near future.”

“MOSTI, through CyberSecurity Malaysia, is committed towards developing the growth of the ICT security through various programmes. Through the Malaysia Cyber Security Awards, we hope to encourage organisations and companies to compete professionally and optimally within the scope of ICT security for the benefit of all.” added Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia, General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi bin Mohamed (Retired), said, “The Malaysia Cyber Security Awards 2014 are intended not only to recognise the efforts of cyber security professionals, homegrown SMEs and global organisations, but also to encourage innovation and spark strategic alliances within the local security and ICT industry, thus, emphasizing the importance and growth of cyber security in Malaysia’s vibrant ICT landscape. The awards component will give due recognition to the most distinguished and innovative individuals, businesses and public service providers which help to grow Malaysia’s cyber security industry as a significant contributor to the national economy.”

More than 500 guests from various government departments and agencies, NGOs, corporations, organisations and ICT security experts and practitioners attended the awards presentation ceremony at the gala dinner hosted by the State Government of Perak and co-organised by CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The Malaysia Cyber Security Awards 2014 recipients are as follows:

Cyber Security Malaysia – Awards, Conference and Exhibition (CSM-ACE) is the biggest cyber security industry event in Malaysia. The 3-in-1 cyber security event consisting of Awards, Conference, and Exhibition aims to improve reliability and resilience of the critical information infrastructures and better assure privacy, business processes as well as government missions. This year, CSM-ACE 2014 with the theme “Trusted and Secured Ecosystem” is organised for the first time outside Kuala Lumpur and Perak is the first state to host the event.
