YB DATUK HAJI FADILLAH YUSOF OFFICIATED 17TH MALAYSIAN CHEMICAL CONGRESS (17MCC)

Kuala Lumpur, October 15, 2012 – Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM), together with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) and Chemistry Department Malaysia (JKM), are jointly organising the 17th Malaysian Chemical Congress (17MCC) from October 14 – 17, 2012 in Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

The Opening Ceremony of 17MCC was held on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 9.00 – 10.00 am at the Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, Putra World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur and officiated by Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Datuk Haji Fadillah Yusof.

“I was informed that the 17MCC has attracted close to 380 participants both from within Malaysia and overseas with over 270 presentations that will augurs well for the advancement of chemical sciences in Malaysia. I believe this year’s 17MCC is of special significance to Malaysia as we celebrate the year of Science and National Innovation Movement (SGI 2012). Towards this end, MOSTI will continue to intensify its efforts to promote innovation, creativity and commercialisation of research into viable and profitable business ventures using STI,” said the Deputy Minister who represents YB Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili.

17MCC will focus on latest development and innovation in chemical sciences that not only add knowledge but also have wide implications in socio-economic transformation of nations. Many papers also deal with current global issues such as energy, materials, environment and climate change.
