KUALA LUMPUR: 15th October 2012 – Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Madinah Mohamad officiated the opening of the Workshop for SMEs on Valuation of Intellectual Property held today. The workshop is a side event for the Asia Pacific Business Forum (APBF) organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Sunway Resorts and Spa, Kuala Lumpur from 14 – 16 October 2012.
This side event was organised by the Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) and supported by MOSTI and SIRIM. A total of 50 participants attended the workshop, comprising of both local and international SMEs. The workshop was organised to highlight the many approaches and mechanisms of Intellectual Property valuation by citing real life examples and best practices.
In her opening remarks, Dato’ Dr. Madinah said that since becoming a member country of APCTT in 1997, MOSTI, through its International Division, has established close rapport with APCTT by involving in most of its activities and programmes. The Secretary General also highlighted SIRIM’s lead role as the government’s corporate vehicle for research and technology development, and the national champion for quality. The event was also graced by the Director of Trade and Investment Division of United Nations ESCAP, Dr. Ravi Ratnayake.
