Themed Supercritical Fluid Extraction – A Wellness Industry Game Changer, the event displayed products from various companies that have utilised the Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE) platform technology and hosted two experts in the SFE field who held talks in relation to the platform technology and its relevance in the wellness industry and the halal market.

Through the collaboration between BiotechCorp and University Putra Malaysia (UPM), 15 product protocols have been developed in 2014 to successfully produce nutraceutical, cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical products using the SFE platform technology at UPM’s Supercritical Fluid Centre (SFC).

“The ministry has set a target to commercialise 60 R&D projects each year beginning 2014, bringing the number to 360 by 2020. With the help of industry players, the SFE platform technology can play an important role in achieving this goal,” he added.

“In terms of revenue, we expect the SFE platform technology to garner RM1.3 million by 2015, and we aim to achieve RM14 million in revenues by 2020. We also target to create 15 entrepreneurs in Malaysia utilising the SFE technology platform by 2020,” he said.
