KUALA LUMPUR (2 JULY 2015) – CyberSecurity Malaysia, the national cyber security specialist and technical agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) is calling for stronger commitment and greater collaboration from cyber security communities around the world to achieve a cleaner and safer Internet ecosystem.
Aptly themed ‘Bridging The World – Go Cyber Green,’ the upcoming 2015 Cyber Security Malaysia – Awards, Conference & Exhibition ( CSM-ACE 2015) will take place from 6 to 10 September 2015 at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur. CSM-ACE 2015 is a public-private-partnership driven event, which serves as a catalyst in driving innovation and growth in the cyber security industry.
CSM-ACE + OIC-CERT + APCERT
This year, CyberSecurity Malaysia will also play host to two regional cyber security bodies in conjunction with CSM-ACE 2015. APCERT – Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Teams and OIC-CERT – Organization of The Islamic Cooperation Computer Emergency Response Teams will be holding their respective annual conferences, further bolstering CSM-ACE 2015 as a world-class cyber security event not to be missed.
CYBER GREEN
“Bridging The World – Go Cyber Green” underscores the urgency to foster greater international collaboration to enhance Malaysia’s cybersecurity capabilities and improve cross-border collaboration in ensuring a viable and healthy cyber ecosystem. Cyber Green leverages on the collaborative potential of key stakeholders in cyberspace to bring about a clean and secure cyber ecosystem that is free from malicious threats,” said YB Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin, Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) during the pre-event launching of CSM-ACE 2015.
“As CSM-ACE 2015 is an international-level conference, I urge more Malaysian ICT and cyber security companies to participate and take a more active role in contributing towards Cyber Green so that our future generation will be able to enjoy a safer and cleaner cyber world.”
Datuk Dr. Ewon said it was also an excellent opportunity to showcase Malaysia’s cyber security capability to the world and to enhance Malaysia’s reputation as a country that operates high level of assurance and excellent cyber security practices.
PARTICIPANTS
According to CyberSecurity Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, more than 900 delegates from the government, public, Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) organizations and ICT industry are expected to attend the 5-day event.
CAPACITY BUILDING
“One of the key objectives of CSM-ACE 2015 is to significantly improve the skills and expand the knowledge of our cyber security professionals. CyberSecurity Malaysia will also be conducting comprehensive training programs during CSM-ACE 2015 to strengthen Malaysia’s self-reliance in technology and human resources in cyber security,” said Dr. Amirudin. Some 1,500 cyber security practitioners are expected to participate in the CSM-ACE 2015 training program.
TRADE EXHIBITION
A 3-day trade exhibition will be a key attraction at CSM-ACE 2015. With confirmed participation of close to 40 international and local cyber security companies, Dr. Amirudin expects the exhibition to facilitate greater trade and investment opportunities and thus, enable Malaysian cyber security companies to access international export markets for their latest products and services.
FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION
Following on the success from last year’s edition, CSM-ACE 2015 will once again co-host two satellite events – National ICT Security Discourse (NICTSED) 2015 and National Hacking Competition (UTP-HAX) 2015 which aim to raise awareness on the importance of cyber safety and security among young Malaysian netizens.
Dr Amirudin explained, “The National ICT Security Discourse (NICTSeD) is Malaysia’s first national ICT security school competition with support from MOE (Ministry of Education) and MOSTI, successfully achieved its goal as a method of disseminating knowledge on Internet safety in a way that would be interesting for students and teachers. The main objective of this program is to encourage the creative and critical thinking of its participants on the current internet and technological issues being discussed on a global scale and how online risk and challenges can be overcome, and in the process teachers and students thus become smart and ethical internet users.”
INDUSTRY AWARDS
At the conclusion of CSM-ACE 2015 event, the prestigious Cyber Security Malaysia Awards 2015 will be presented to highly talented information security professionals, homegrown SMEs and organizations for outstanding contributions to the Malaysian cyber security industry. A total of seven (7) award categories will be conferred during the closing ceremony.
