During their 30-minute discussion, Datuk Fadillah and Mr Samrach touched on a wide range of issues pertaining to science and technology cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia. Mr. Samrach expressed confidence that Malaysia could play a bigger role in assisting Cambodia to develop her ICT initiatives especially in policy development, human capital and ICT infrastructure. Both sides also agreed that cooperation in cyber security would be beneficial to both countries and should include regulatory and enforcement aspects as well.
The Cambodian Vice Minister is in Malaysia leading a five (5) member delegation, which includes Mr Chun Vat, Secretary General of National ICT Development Authority (NiDA) and Mr. Sok Puthyvuth (ACOSOCC), attending the Senior Management Programme for Managing Research and Technology Organisation: ICT for Cambodia from 17th to 20th January 2012. The programme is organised by MOSTI under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP).
Prior to the courtesy call, the Cambodian participants attended a briefing session on Malaysian experiences in developing ICT policies and strategies. During the duration of the course, the Cambodian team will be briefed on Malaysian best practices, managing ICT in industries, managing research in ICT, managing ICT content development and managing ICT security when they visit SIRIM, MIMOS, MDeC and Cybersecury. The visiting dignitaries will leave for Phnom Penh on 21 January 2012.
