Strengthening the cooperation between Malaysia and OIC countries with the training programme on Halal Standards and Conformance Infrastructure

(Kuala Lumpur, July 5)  The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) on Halal Standards and Conformance Infrastructure for the OIC countries was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Datuk Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof accompanied by the Director General of the Department of Standards Malaysia (STANDARDS MALAYSIA), Madam Fadilah Baharin at Hotel Maya today.

This training programme was organised by STANDARDS MALAYSIA to provide a platform for the OIC countries to obtain and share information as well as experience pertaining to halal products and services. This training will also educate the participants on topics such as standards development and conformity assessment infrastructure. The participants of this training programme comprise of departmental heads, policy makers and industrial players from the OIC countries.  Technical visit to relevant organization were included in this programme to provide exposure to the participants.

This programme was also in line with the spirit of the South-South Cooperation which aimed to promote technical cooperation among developing countries in order to strengthen the regional and sub-regional cooperation as well as nurturing collective self-reliance among developing countries.
